Rico, M., M. J. Naranjo, G. Delicado, J. E. Agudo, E. Dominguez Gómez, and N. Plaza, "GOOD PRACTICES AROUND LANGUAGES, CULTURE AND MEDIA FOR MIGRANT LEARNERS", 6th International Conference on ICT for Language Learning, Florencia, 2013.

Migration has contributed to the richness in diversity of cultures in most countries. However, while losing touch with their own customs in many cases, the exclusion of non-national residents from many civil and citizenship rights is also leading to a lack of social integration into the host countries. Helping migrants acquire and develop cultural awareness and social inclusion is an arduous task: “Culture is embedded in language as an intangible, all-pervasive and highly variable force” [1].

Let´s move: mobile learning for motivation in language acquisition

Rico, M., M. J. Naranjo, G. Delicado, E. Dominguez Gómez, and N. Plaza, "Let´s move: mobile learning for motivation in language acquisition", 7th International Conference on ICT for Language Learning , Florence, 2014.

Mobile learning (m-learning) is undergoing a rapid evolution, supporting a variety of fields, including second language acquisition and whose focal features are recognized as the potential for the learning process to be personalized, informal and ubiquitous. In addition to the increased proliferation of mobile technologies such as smart phones, MP3 and MP4 players, PDAs iPhone or iPad, learners are increasingly motivated by their personal learning needs and wants, including those arising from a greater global mobility, their need for social interaction and collaborative learning.
