INFLUENCE OF ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION ON BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT. EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS IN THE PROVINCE OF CÁCERES

To measure the relationship between the entrepreneurial spirit of organizations and their performance there is a multidimensional construct called Entrepreneurial Orientation (SO), which allows comparing the entrepreneurial behavior of different companies. Therefore, the first objective of this project is to use this construct to diagnose the state of entrepreneurship in the province of Cáceres, and learn how Caceres companies capitalize on their greater or lesser entrepreneurial commitment, and what is the influence of this greater or lesser OE in local development. Taking into account the reality of the Cáceres business network, which is the vast majority of companies with less than 250 employees, and the fact that previous studies (eg, Lumpkin and Dess, 1996) suggest that not all dimensions of the EO have the same influence on the performance of the organization, we also set out to know what the individual influence of each of these dimensions is (capacity for innovation, proactivity, risk taking, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy) in the performance of the organization, To know in which of these dimensions, the efforts of the companies themselves, as well as the Public Administrations interested in promoting entrepreneurship, must focus. To do this, and based on a bibliographic review of the OE construct, its dimensions and measurement scales, we developed and applied a questionnaire (addressed to the management team of each company) to measure the constructs object of this research (OE, performance and local development ), and we statistically analyze the relationships between them.
